Sample Media Cover Letter
I am seeking a company that could benefit from an experienced and successful Media Executive with more than 20 years of dynamic contributions across major multi-media markets and in the music industry, broadcasting, TV and print consistently delivering record-setting revenue, ratings and results.
Although currently employed, I am eager to take the next step in my career and I am excited about the prospect of possibly doing so with a company seeking to expand platforms and further benefit from the integration of music, radio and other media platforms working together.
My background encompasses success in music, marketing and major radio markets across the world. I have earned my strips at Universal Music Group where I mastered the domestic and international music market, which included global ex-US artist development and distribution in 77 countries, introduction of Jack Johnson and Akon to this market, and the organization of a worldwide tour with Jack Johnson, 3 Doors Down and Stevie Wonder.
My formidable experience at Radio & Records will also help set me apart from other candidates for this position as I know how to create, manage and execute an Industry Plan, a job that I did for Radio & Records for many products, music labels, music acts and more. For almost ten years, I was a key executive at Radio & Records (R&R) the preeminent information company serving the key decision makers in the music labels, broadcast radio and music industries. Founded in 1973, R&R offers a broad line of print, Internet, research, convention and seminar products providing music-industry executives with access to critical research information, including the most comprehensive music-information and airplay data in the industry.
As a key music industry executive, I created many of the largest sponsorships in the history of Radio & Records. I also worked on the annual Radio & Records Music Industry Convention which has featured many luminaries as keynote speakers, including President Bill Clinton; recording-industry legend Clive Davis, as well as such superstar entertainers as the Eagles, Stevie Wonder, John Mellencamp, Christina Aguilera, the Allman Brothers Band, Moby, Stevie Nicks, Shelby Lynne, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Tom Hamilton, David Foster, the Guess Who, Bowling For Soup, Alicia Keys and many more. In addition, I established, managed and operated a radio station in Miami, FL, which with another station later sold at an $80 million profit, and rebuilt a radio station in Atlanta, GA.
My résumé is enclosed to provide you with a more detailed overview of my career and my accomplishments. I have over twenty years of established contacts and success in the music, entertainment, broadcast and mobile. Some highlights of skills and qualifications I envision leveraging include my background across functional areas such as strategy, research, programming, promotions, sales and marketing, finance, as well as recruitment and development of talent. I have been able to attract and retain on-air talent, artists, and professionals. One of them is the host of American Idol Ryan Seacrest whom I brought on board for his first radio job at WSTR/Atlanta.
Currently, I am the SVP of Programming and Distribution for a company providing interactive, mobile entertainment, which has given me an in-depth understanding of the latest technologies. I believe that it is the combination of my experience across functional areas, my technological expertise, and my extensive record in music, radio, TV, as well as other media that could benefit Nokia.
Please note that I am available for travel and relocation, and I would appreciate an opportunity to further discuss your specific needs and goals and the way I envision exceeding those goals.
