RE: Head Coach Women’s Tennis , Letter of Interest
Dear Ms Christine Plonsky
I am very grateful and excited for this honor in applying for the position of Head Coach for Women’s Tennis at University of Texas!
Billy Jean King, one of the 20th centuries most respected and influential people, has encouraged me to pursue a career in college coaching.(We both thrive on team competitions) I believe that the University of Texas provides a unique opportunity and challenge to get to the highest level of college tennis. My knowledge, skills and experience make me an ideal candidate to lead this outstanding program.
Having maintained a ranking of number one in the world for 199 weeks on the WTA Tour, while running a profitable tennis academy and of course being a mom, I have first hand experience of what it takes to achieve success. I believe that there is no substitute for experience. Excelling at my endeavors has given me the skills needed to inspire and motivate each student athlete in order to help them reach their full potential. I believe intrinsic motivation and perseverance are two of the most important qualities a team must have in order to be successful.
I am certain that my passion, enthusiasm, ability to relate to people on and off the tennis court plus my experience playing at a high level, will help me transition from being a great player into an even better coach.
I am well respected by my peers in the tennis world, having been in a leadership role on the player council for 6 years and being on tour for 22 years. I have a huge network and am multi-lingual, which will be my weapon in recruiting elite female student-athletes. Not just that, but being born in South Africa and becoming a US Citizen definitely gives me the edge on understanding the foreign and American mindset.
I am extremely driven. I give everything I have. I don’t like losing. I won’t ever give up and I will get to where I said I would! Doing this in a team ten-folds the experience and that’s why Billie Jean and I thrive in teams!
Thank you for taking the time to consider my application. I will follow-up with you by email to address any questions regarding my application. In the interim, if you have any questions or need more information please feel free to contact me at 281-2509985 as I would welcome the opportunity to further discuss my interest and your goals for the Head Women’s Tennis Coaching Position.
