3. How do you write about hobbies on your resume?
Hobbies and extracurricular activities can be a great addition to your resume, particularly if they demonstrate skills that are useful in education. For example, listing, “Skilled guitarist who enjoys writing songs and playing in a blues band” shows that you have creativity that is useful in the classroom. Other helpful hobbies include sports, summer camps, assisting youth groups of any kind, participating in the arts, and volunteer work.
When you have decided which hobbies to add, put them in a bulleted list as the last section on your resume. Education is always in reverse chronological order, so put your most recent degree first. You need the name of the degree and the name as well as the location of the granting institution. You may include the year you earned the degree, but if it was quite a long time ago it’s usually better to leave it off. Don’t list GPAs, but do include any honors, such as magna cum laude.
