Free Creative Mechanic Resume Template

A creative resume style is appropriate when you are seeking employment with a company that has a youthful culture. These types of resumes should show off both your unique personality and qualifications for the job. You should come across as someone who is skilled, competent, and fun to be around. This is harder to do than it may seem. Too much effort spent trying to be entertaining can make you look desperate or awkward.

What to Include in a Creative Mechanic Resume

When writing your creative resume, it is important to consider how it will be received by the manager. Your goal is to be energetic without becoming offensive or inappropriate. A few of the assumptions of proper business communication are relaxed, but you still need to act like you are seeking a professional relationship. Make sure your skills and qualifications are clearly stated, and demonstrate how you use them to succeed in your career.

Common Resume Fails: Mistakes to Avoid

  • Lying on Your Resume: Creative resumes are still honest and accurate. There is a difference between emphasizing your strengths and embellishing or telling stories. A hiring manager will discover if you have been less than truthful, and you risk losing the job opportunity and damaging your reputation.
  • Complicated Jargon: Use phrases and terms that are familiar to a broad audience. Avoid including acronyms or abbreviations that are not understood by those outside of your immediate circle of associates.
  • Putting Too Much Information: Keep your resume to one page in length. A resume should be a quick overview of your qualifications. Too much information or a densely worded resume is difficult to read and can be passed over.
  • Spelling or Grammatical Errors: Proofread your resume, and check for mistakes. After you have written your resume, review it a day or two later. Also have a friend look it over for you just to be certain.
  • Submitting a Resume Without a Focus: Your resume should have a purpose that is clear throughout the text. The opening statement summarizes who you are. Each line following is a supporting piece of evidence for your statement.
