Popular Tutor Resume Questions
Start with the skill that is most important in education which is knowledge of your subject area. Include the levels you can teach, for example, algebra through pre-calculus or first and second year French. List other specific teaching skills as well, such as classroom management.
Employers also like to see soft skills that indicate you have the temperament to be a teacher. Mention strong communication skills and your sensitivity to special needs or issues. The tutor resume samples have some excellent examples.
The education section should be the last section of your resume. List the degrees you earned in reverse chronological order. Write the year, the name of the degree, and your major. If you studied a minor subject that is relevant to the job, you may list that as well. For example, a Bachelor of Arts in French with a minor in Spanish is an asset when applying for language tutoring positions.
On a second line, put the name of the school that granted the degree and the city and state. There is no need to include a GPA. However, if you graduated with honors, go ahead and add cum laude or whatever designation is appropriate.
List relevant work experience in reverse chronological order. Write the name of the company or employer, the city and address, and the dates you worked there. With each job experience, mention four or five duties and accomplishments you achieved.

To create a tutor resume with no tutor experience, make the most of the job experience you do have. You’ve learned job skills that can apply to tutoring at every position you’ve held. Write your job experience section in a way that emphasizes the skills that will transfer to teaching.

Job experience in a restaurant or retail position can emphasize customer service prowess and the ability to solve problems creatively. Hobbies are a good idea if they reveal something about you an employer would like to see. “Binge watching my favorite TV show,” is not a good choice. Team sports, musical talent, and photography are examples of good hobbies to list because they show teamwork and creativity. List your hobbies with bullet points in short, brief statements.

Objective or Goal
Write a brief but precisely worded objective statement that sums up your goals, gives insight into your background and states the qualities you have to offer. Try not to write vague and unspecified statements that do not mean a great deal to the person reading them
This is an important part of a tutor resume and is of particular interest to potential employers. Your qualifications are your passport for entry to the best jobs. List your academic achievements in order from the highest to lowest awards, as well as the year that they were finalized and the organization name. This is the real meat of the resume and gives you an opportunity to make a good impression. Do not simply record your past jobs and duties in a tedious list. Employers find these rather unexciting and will tend to gloss over them. This is where you can use plenty of action verbs and show how your experience has made a difference and contributed to your previous roles. Some examples of this style:

Add any experiences which show that you are an energetic and enthusiastic contributor and highlight your skill as an educator. Aim to show “people skills”, dedication as well as organizational and analytical talents. Any technical abilities such as computer proficiency should be feature as well.
Additional Information / Activities
This section allows you to display your membership of community associations and professional bodies. It draws attention to your commitment to others and social participation. Awards and commendations need to be listed here and any additional relevant training courses that you have attended. It is also useful to add your hobbies and interests that are appropriate and will enhance your status in the eyes of hiring managers. Finally tutor resumes should also include a good number of commonly used words or keywords that employers will search for online. Look for specific job descriptions and take out the words that are relevant to the job you are after and use these at various stages when writing your resume.
