There are countless job opportunities available in the banking industry that promise amazing salary packages and benefits for individuals selected to fill those positions. The only problem with people searching for jobs in the banking industry is the highly competitive nature of employment. Regardless of what position you are applying for, banking resumes all have common items included in them. A banker resume for a Financial Analyst position will differ slightly from a banker resume for someone applying to become a Portfolio Analyst but both will include many of the same elements. Previous Work Experience

In the business world there is nothing that can compare to the importance of relevant working experience. For recent graduates who do not have any past experience the most important part of the resume will be your education, which will be discussed later in this article. Starting with your current or most recent position, work your way backwards through the various positions you have held in your career. Keep in mind that just because you can fill up 2 pages with work experience does not mean that you should; stick with positions that are relevant.

You will need to include information such as daily responsibilities of your previous positions, promotions or recognition you received for your work, and the skills or abilities that were required in order for you the be able to successfully perform your job. This is a great place to include areas of expertise; under each position you can include job duties that you particularly excelled at such as ‘budget management’ or ‘regulation compliance’. Including items such as those will help employers to remember you over all of the other resumes they are reviewing.

Education and Certifications

Most companies will not even consider applicants for specific positions if they do not have the necessary higher education degree that qualifies them for the job. Education experience is a lot like job experience; make sure that you list the higher level degrees first, such as a MBA, and work your way down to your undergraduate degrees, like Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. If you are applying for a position that lawfully requires you to be certified before you can perform the tasks necessary to the job you should make sure to include a list of your certifications.
