Rigger Resume Writing Tips

This broad occupation includes installation, maintenance and repair work. It also includes the setting up of intricate rigging for construction and for building development projects, manufacturing plants, logging yards, shipbuilding and shipyards and even for the hugely popular entertainment industry with its never ending need for professional stage and set rigging. Jobs are plentiful and one of the major employers of riggers is the broadcast technology industry. The oil and gas industry also requires fully qualified and trained riggers to work both above ground and under water.

About Sample Rigger Resumes

From the very beginning, a resume must be both accurate and to the point. When applying for a specialized area of rigging, make sure your qualifications match the job specification. The best starting point is to search online for a sample rigger resume and work from there. This will provide a template on which to base your own personal details, experience and information. A professional rigger must be specific and accurate in his target area, and your resume should be no different. Take care when setting up the format you want to use for your resume, ensuring legibility and giving the prospective employer good reason to call you for an interview.

How to Write a Rigger Resume

A rigger has the choice of lots of categories. Some categories are related, but some require specialized certification. It is a career with many options, and whichever area you decide to specialize in, it is worth taking certified training courses at technical colleges or experiencing on-site development. Decide on what is right for you, and which category or categories would be of interest. Give the employer a strong reason to consider you for the position that you are applying for. Do this by putting all your contact details at the top, with all relevant certification and qualifications clearly listed in bold type. Search the internet for a rigger resume and follow the best one for style and layout.

This will give you an idea of what an employer expects to see in a rigger’s resume. Build your resume using specific, detailed information, giving a summarized account of why you are right for the job. A resume can get onto the desk of a recruiter, so design it to stand out from the crowd, which will give you a great chance of being contacted. 2 or 3 pages are ample, with the most important points listed on the first page, and the most important details in bold type. A resume is a work in progress, and it must be kept updated with every career move you make, and with every new qualification you earn as a rigger.

Rigger Job Description

Riggers always face severe competition for jobs, but there are so many different areas a rigger can specialize in. Entry level requires at least post secondary education where apprentice riggers can earn and learn with short term on the job training. This gives invaluable first hand experience to those who want a career as a rigger. As riggers progress through the industry, there are many certification options to consider, and this is when to choose the area or areas that are right for you.

Rigger Salary

In the broadcast and entertainment industry, riggers can choose from a multitude of categories, and earnings are related to the style of work involved. For example, television stations usually pay higher wages than radio stations, and commercial broadcasting usually pays more than non-commercial broadcasting. Riggers in audio and video categories earned from $21,500 to almost $40,000 in 2008. In the same period, broadcast technicians earned from $17,500 to $32,900 and sound engineers earned from $23,000 to $92,700. Radio operators earned from $19,240 to more than $61,290 in 2008. As you can see from these figures, earnings depend greatly on your selected occupational area as a rigger.
