What this means: Not all credentials carry the same weight. This data shows that targeted, non-degree certifications can lead to meaningful wage increases, especially when they focus on the skills employers are expected to prioritize by 2030.
Whether you're just starting out or planning a career shift, upskilling in areas like AI, leadership, general computer skills, or emotional intelligence can be a smart move.
For workers, the message is clear. You don't always need a traditional degree to stay competitive. Creative skills and the strategic ability to choose the right course at the right time can have a real impact on your earning potential and career path.
For employers, this highlights the value of supporting skill development and recognizing alternative credentials that lead to results.

Methodology
This analysis began with identifying the most in-demand skills for the future of work. Using data from the World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report (2025), Resume Now pinpointed the top 11 core skills in the U.S. that are both critical today and projected to increase in importance by 2030. These included competencies such as AI and big data, technological literacy, resilience, and leadership. Next, Resume Now turned to the Credential Value Index (CVI) developed by the Burning Glass Institute, which evaluates more than 23,000 non-degree credentials based on real-world outcomes. For each skill, Resume Now searched the CVI database to identify certifications associated with measurable wage growth or improved career mobility. Finally, Resume Now matched those certifications with accessible course options from well-known providers—including AWS, IBM, LinkedIn Learning, Udemy, edX, and others—and highlighted credentials that have been shown to significantly impact worker earnings. The goal of this methodology is to help learners and job seekers make more informed decisions by linking future-ready skills with credentials that actually deliver career value.
