Your resume markets your personal brand, so make yours tell a story hiring managers want to hear more about. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, programmers can make around $82,000 per year. However, the BLS also projects a 7 percent decline in U.S. programming jobs by 2026. So your resume becomes even more important.
In the IT world, experience and education count, and many employers prefer a master’s degree. If you have or are taking any courses on certifications, list that on your resume. You may not have real-world experience, but you can use volunteer work or work-study positions to demonstrate your technical and soft skills. Certificates are highly prized and sometimes required for entry-level positions.
