The fashion industry is popular and competitive, and a well-crafted resume is crucial when approaching employers. When written strategically, a resume allows you to present relevant skills and life experiences to a recruiter, focusing on the ways you’re perfectly suited for their advertised position.
Many employers prefer to hire people with education in fashion, whether a bachelor’s degree or a certificate, so be sure to highlight any formal fashion training you have received. Focus on complementary skills by mentioning any internships or volunteer positions that relate to the industry and demonstrate your passion for fashion.
The entry-level fashion resume sample will help you design a resume that shows a potential employer that you’re the ideal candidate.

Entry-Level Fashion Resume Questions
What sections should you include in your entry-level fashion resume?
Start out with the following five sections: header, summary statement, skills, experience, and education. The header displays your contact information while the summary statement provides a snapshot of your professional skills, abilities, and experiences. Though the last three sections may seem obvious, choose the skills, experiences, and educational qualifications that relate to the advertised job. You don’t want to lose the hiring manager’s attention by stuffing these sections with irrelevant information. Look through our entry-level fashion resume sample set for best practices for crafting sections.
What goes in the header of an entry-level fashion resume?
The header is for your contact information: name, city and state, telephone number, and email address. don’t provide workplace telephone numbers or email addresses; list your personal number and a professional email address. If you’re applying for a job you’ve never held before, you might consider adding a title after your name that aligns you with the role. Even a title as general as “Fashion Marketing Professional” positions you as a career-focused candidate. Want to take a quick look at other jobseekers’ headers? How do you write a summary statement for an entry-level fashion resume?
Today, most jobseekers use a professional summary as an “elevator pitch” to showcase their work experience. The resume objective of old is no longer acceptable unless you’re seeking a first job, making a career change, or returning to the workforce after a long absence. To craft a summary statement, write a short paragraph that outlines who you are, who you support, how you help, and why what you do is important. Use action verbs and sprinkle in a few keywords from the job description. Ready to see some examples? Browse our entry-level fashion resume sample set.
What do you put on an entry-level fashion resume for your first job?
Whether you’re looking to assist designers or provide technical support, be strategic when writing about your skills and experiences. Include only those that are relevant to the advertised position. Mention internships and volunteer roles if they helped you develop complementary skills and abilities. Most of all, give hiring managers a clear idea of the position you are seeking and why. Do this by including a professional title in your header and detailing your goals in your summary statement. You may also consider creating an online professional profile and linking to it from your header.
